What is Interim Teacher?

Interim Teacher
"Interim Teacher" is known as Guru Sandaran Siswazah Terlatih (Trained Graduate Support Teacher). Contrast with Guru Sandaran Tidak Terlatih (Untrained Support Teacher), Interim Teacher has Bachelor of Education in in distinctive specialization from UPSI, UPM, UKM, USM and other IPTA students who graduated last 2011. They received salary based on Gred DC41 and have time limit that binds with contract. Normally they serve as teacher as long as not more than three months.

Who is in Charged
Interim teacher recruitment was in charged by Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri (State Education Department) and under Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (Malaysian Education Ministry). It have implemented in each state if the state had a teacher vacancy. The first intake of interim teachers began in January by the JPN in Johor, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang, Kedah and Perak. Unfortunately, not all states have a vacancy such as in Kelantan, Penang and Terengganu.

Contract almost End
The dilemma among interim teacher that their contract as interim Teacher will end officially on 31 March 2012. So the question is, either the JPN will extend the contract or provide a posting and school placement.

Root Cause
This problem arises as the government failed to provide a post, and even worse, when the government fully absorb the Guru Sandaran Tidak Terlatih (Untrained Support Teacher) to back up fixed positions last year. Is thus set aside the graduates has a degree in education.

Misunderstanding on term
Some of teachers at school confused with a term of "Interim", so some of them make their own speculations about interim teacher. They equate between interim and practical teacher. Some senior teachers who failed to understand the situation of interim teachers who was victims of goverment policy. They ridiculed the provision of new teachers.

Pray for The Best Will Come
I wish for all the intended teachers will posting as teacher soon, and keep your sincerity to be a teacher & educator. We sincerely want to be teachers, not just a teacher job wanted.
